Bright Hope
oil on canvas 24x36 2020
This image was snapped on my iphone after being dismissed from the Remembrance Day service at the war memorial downtown Victoria. Some roses holding on in November, spilling over a front yard fence, reminding us that beauty prevails. It brought to mind the hymn “Great is Thy Faithfulness” and the line “Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow”. The next few months were among the most challenging of my life. Painting this image in the midst of the turmoil was a gift to me.
Painted using walnut-based oils on gallery sized canvas (1.5 inches thick). I have painted the sides of the canvas to seamlessly continue the image so that no framing is necessary.
Shipping: Local residents of Victoria please choose “local pickup” in shipping if you would prefer picking it up from my studio in Gordon Head. Otherwise shipping is $20 in Canada, $25 in the US. International collectors can email me to calculate shipping fees at janetspaintedlife@gmail.com.
